A life shaped by ambition, leadership, adventure, and ultimately reflection.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jim Minarik grew up in a middle-class steel mill town where hard work was a way of life. After experiencing tragedy early in life, he left with the ambition and determination to build something greater for himself and to create his own path in the world.
Over the next four decades, Jim worked relentlessly to build a career from the ground up. He rose through the business world to become a successful CEO, investor, and advisor, known for developing winning strategies, growing companies, and leading organizations through significant growth and transformation.
During those years he largely kept his head down and focused on the work—building companies, leading teams, and raising a family along the way as a husband and father of four.
Today Jim lives in California and spends much of his time traveling the world with his wife Megan aboard The World, the private residential ship that circles the globe. An avid scuba diver and adventurer, he has visited more than 80 countries and continues to pursue his goal of experiencing every continent and as many cultures as possible.
While he no longer operates companies day-to-day, Jim remains active as an investor, board member, and advisor to a select group of businesses. He works with founders and leadership teams where he feels he can add meaningful value, bringing decades of experience in strategy, growth, and leadership to companies that align with both his expertise and his life today.
Where much of his earlier life was defined by building and doing, today Jim spends more time reflecting on the journey that shaped him. Through travel, writing, and sharing the story of his life in his memoir, he continues exploring the deeper experience of being—looking back on the lessons of the past while remaining present to the unfolding story ahead.
